Introduction
In January 2025, FMG Consulting – a leading sports and leisure consultancy – in partnership with Saunders Boston Architects completed a 'Feasibility Study and Outline Business Plan for the Redevelopment of Otley Lido'. Both companies – and the teams working on the project – have considerable expertise in leisure facilities, pools and lidos.

Working with FoOL, FMG and Saunders Boston undertook market analysis for the proposed facilities, developed concept designs with indicative capital costs, and produced financial models and the associated outline business plans. At feasibility stage, these are all indicative rather than definitive but provide a blueprint for development.
The study has established a feasible and viable plan to sustain a heated pool – open seasonally for six months of the year – as the centrepiece of a year-round community, health and wellness hub.
We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from key stakeholders and submitted an outline business plan to Leeds City Council. Subject to the Council's continued support, we shall continue to progress the project including undertaking further stakeholder consultation including with our community.
